If you are an online business owner, one of the most important goals you need to focus on is to organize your online business.
I know that most people will think that getting organized would not be their most important goals for their online
home business. However, boring or not, you need to organize your online business if you want it to be able to grow.
I remember when I first discovered that I could learn affiliate marketing as a way to make money from my home computer, it was so exciting!
I signed up for all kinds of free information to help me get started online. My email inbox began to fill up each morning, and when I invested in some courses from online mentors, I began to feel a little overwhelmed with all the internet marketing information that kept coming at me.
It was not long before I had a few domains registered, some affiliate links, login details for affiliate programs, some articles and a whole load of downloads that were saved all over my computer hard drive.
It was becoming frustrating to find the affiliate link I needed or what my password was for a certain membership
site. Fortunately, I realized early on that I would have to get all this internet marketing information recorded in the same way as I had done in my old job as a bookkeeper or else it would become a nightmare.
Here are some of the ways I set about getting organized and you can organize your online business in this way too.
1. Set up a record of your domains in a physical book where you allocate one page to each domain, or on a spreadsheet system. Record the details of each domain, the registrar, the cpanel login details and when it is due to expire so that you don’t miss a renewal.
2. Set up a record of your online assets such as all your articles, audios and videos and the products you have created. You can do this easily with a spreadsheet system like Excel or manually in a notebook if you have an aversion to spreadsheets.
As you create a new asset make sure you add it to the list. Now, when you need a certain article you can find it in one place very easily.
3. Set up your internet marketing information under one main folder in your computer. Doing this will make it easier when you want to backup the data, and it is also easier to find that way. Put this main folder at the highest level you can, so that the sub folders under it
will not have pathways that are too long.
As you add subfolders to this main folder, give them with short names – this will also help to reduce the pathway length to the deepest folders. If you can save this internet marketing information on a separate hard drive that is external to your computer. If your main computer is affected in any way then your information is safe.
If you are serious about building a successful, online business with solid foundations that will be able to grow without much more effort on your part, then you need to organize your online business.
